ISO Small Box Containers (20’/40’/45’):
Typically used for westbound routes to west coast ports.
These containers are domestic returns of international boxes back to the ports. Some steamship lines allow inland use to return containers to the west coast instead of repositioning them empty.
Availability varies by origin.
Note: 20’ containers must move in pairs on the rail, limiting single container availability. 40’/45’ containers are suitable for dense products that reach their weight capacity before reaching their volume limit.
